Eloise – flapperdoodle.com

Posted by Tati on Saturday, June 5th, 2010 at 8:45 pm

This is Eloise, a stylish character created by Kate Gabrielle. She’s an artist who I follow on Twitter (@flapperdoodle and @KateGabrielle).

When I was doodling in my sketchbook, for some reason I remembered her and did this drawing. Anyway, that’s the way I imagine Eloise.

PS.: I hope you like, Kate!

Waiting For The Doctor

Posted by Tati on Monday, May 31st, 2010 at 1:19 pm

I hate waiting at the doctor’s office… I really do. Don’t you? So, I hate also being sick, because I know I have to see my doc. Well, there’s no problem with my doctor; the problem is spend hours sitting in a chair… waiting. And, the worst part of it? I was the last patience! Then, this impatient patience had to sketch a lot. This drawing above (colours are digital) is my favorite of them!

Reading this, you may ask: Tati, are you sick? Hmmmm… Not sick, in terms. I have been suffering from high cholesterol and triglycerides levels for a couple of years, and lately I’m feeling heartburns (funny word… it has nothing to do with my heart). But don’t worry, everything is fine now. My levels are normal, it’s not gastritis as I thought, I’m on a diet, taking medicines and doing exercises.

Loving…

Keeping this blog updated… This is a personal illustration which I made last year, but recently painted. By the way, I just uploaded some more illustrations to the Gallery page. Oh, yeah… Finally I found my backup CDs, as well as my old drawings. ;)

27 Years OLD!

Posted by Tati on Friday, May 7th, 2010 at 8:12 pm

4th May was my birthday… Oh, I am very sorry for didn’t let you know about that! You know… That old story: busy, as always! Doing what? Studying and learning how to have a little more discipline and be more dedicated. And, as the time goes fast and we have a lot of informations and things to do, it’s getting really difficult to focus on something… Don’t you think?

Well, that’s one of the thoughts I have every birthday. Actually I’m passing through the “27-year-old crisis” (I think I just created this term). That’s weird, because I’m almost 30! And… A few years ago I was 15! Wait… Where’s my 15??? I want my 15 back!!! o_O’

Ok… Breathing…

I had a cool day. Honestly, this 4th May was very weird. My hubby upseted me (whatever reason), and I spent all morning crying and finding me a looser. But, we had a talk and things back to normal. We went out for lunch, etc, etc… and I had a kind of “surprise” party. Yeah, “surprise”! Have you ever seen someone organizing a surprise party via Twitter? So, Nando did it.

It was very nice. I’ve got some gifts, including two books that I want to share with you: The Acrylic Artist’s Bible, by Marylin Scott and the brazilian version of Computer Arts’ The Book of Inspiration. Both are amazing and exactly what I need now! The first one is all in spanish… That’s cool, because I just started a spanish course on Livemocha. But, the most interesting is a word I saw there: “abocetado”. It makes me laugh a lot! In portuguese, “boceta” is a bad language that means “vagina” (don’t teach this to your kids, please)… Then, see “boceta” as a verb, adverb (or something grammatical I don’t remember) is very funny. Actually, “abocetado” has to do with sketch, doodle… Nothing pornographic. Yes, we brazilians are pervert. LOL!

So… that’s all folks. Hmmmm…. 27? Really?

Mirror’s Edge

Posted by Tati on Wednesday, April 14th, 2010 at 10:32 pm

My husband loves games, and he got himself an Xbox 360. He plays a lot of games, my favorite is Mirror’s Edge. No… I don’t play, but I love watching Nando playing, and also games visual, concept art, etc. Hmmm… I think I will give it a try… Someday. :P
That’s Faith, Mirror’s Edge main character. I love her style, clothes and oriental face (I can’t forget to mention the theme song – video below). Cool, eh?

My Watercolor Sketchbook

Posted by Tati on Wednesday, April 14th, 2010 at 10:10 pm

I ♥ watercolor! Actually I think everybody does… Don’t you?
Yes, that’s a very beautiful technique. The way that the wet paint touches the paper and how we can mix the colors, creating lights and shadows… it’s amazing!
Anyway, those sketches are from my special sketchbook, made of some old thick papers I had (they’re even a little stinky). I want to try some paintings with watercolors… I’ve got new papers and a kit of watercolors tube paints. But first, I am doodling and playing with my paint set and this cool sketchbook. Well… What do you think? Am I doing good?

New Painting: Rose

Posted by Tati on Wednesday, March 31st, 2010 at 2:50 pm

2 months… Believe me… It took 2 months, since january, to be finished! Can you believe that? Well, I had a very busy time. Art isn’t my full time job, paintings are made in my free times. I’ve got some illustrations commissions to do and, you know, I’m also a housewife. But I am learning how to organize my time and spend some days finishing an artwork.
Anyway, It’s entitled Rose, measures 30 x 40 x 1.5 cm (aprox. 11.8 x 15.7 x 0.5 inches) and costs $260 (plus $10 worldwide shipping)! I’m very proud of this one! As I told you, I made it a little more “freely”. But even so, I did a lot of detailed lines. And it’s a bit larger than my other paintings… almost an A3.

Rose Acrylic Painting – Work In Progress

Posted by Tati on Saturday, March 20th, 2010 at 6:48 am

Hello, there!
Stopping to share the canvas I am working on (actually I started it weeks ago… or a month ago…). Its name is Rose. Sorry for the crappy quality of this pic, I took it with my iPhone (yeah, I got myself an iPhone!).
Well (did you notice that I say “well” very often?), it’s almost done, but I think it needs something. So, I’m here asking your opinion… What do you think?
I don’t know… Maybe work more in those roses? By the way… Can you see they are roses? XD
Or… Should I paint a balloon (like this one in my Tooongue painting) at woman’s left side? I really think I need to put something there, but in other hand, I believe that if I put something there, it would “pollute” the illustration.
So, can you give me a hand, pleeease? I’d appreciate. :D
Hugs! \o/

Do Not Steal My Art!

Posted by Tati on Monday, March 1st, 2010 at 1:11 am

Have you heard about the Hidden Eloise vs Paperchase case? Well, if you haven’t, take a look at this link. It’s all about people stealing artist’s drawings or illustrations on internet. I hate when it happens, I get angry easily, and it’s a very uncomfortable situation, because I really fight for my rights – the only thing I have!

I share my doodles, artworks… I don’t put watermark, etc. So I trust you!

Answering the big question, “May I use your drawings?”: well… you can save them and use as wallpaper or show to your mom, post in your blog/site for divulgation… But, please, never rename the files (filename_tatimaia), nor even claim yourself the author of them! Oh, and you can’t use them in your design, change them, retrace them, etc, etc, etc.

People think that all images they find on Google are free for use. That’s not the truth! Always ask the author’s permission (or buy a custom artwork – it’s much better have something specially made for you… by the way… I do commissions too! XD).

When you look for images, search on Stock Images websites. There’re free images, and also paid ones… And those are very cheap, like $1 or $10.

I hope I am helping. If you have more doubts (or discovered someone using my art), don’t hesitate to comment or message me. :D

Edit: I missed the SketchCrawl yesterday. So, at least I am posting some doodles. The guy singing Fly Me To The Moon is my husband, Fernando.
